Dabba Network: Building India's Wi-Fi From the Ground Up

Video

India is the world's fifth largest economy, and more than 600 million people there still lack reliable internet. A handful of telecom companies control the market, and the cost of expanding the network lands on consumers: broadband runs about $10 a month against an average wage under $7 a day.

Dabba is a Wi-Fi provider built as a DePIN, a decentralized physical infrastructure network where hardware is deployed and connected peer to peer rather than by a single carrier. Messari put Dabba at more than 130,000 hotspots across four states and 25 cities in India as of April 2026.

Originally produced in February 2025. Some details may have changed since.
